"Keep some room in your heart
for the unimaginable."
~ Mary Oliver
I have spent over 15 years exploring my own mind/body connection and personal potential through yoga, meditation, hypnosis, triathlon training, rock climbing, cycling, and fire walking. My graduate degree is in Somatic Psychotherapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies - and I am thrilled to have found a program that incorporates so perfectly my varying areas of interest and passion. I created Yin Warrior Health, a program designed to heal our relationship with food, body, and weight, and BodyAwake, a unique form of holistic fitness which heightens physical and emotional sensitivity. I am also a member of Vitality Dynamics, a consulting firm working in San Francisco corporations to enliven managers and employees to self-motivate and maximize effectiveness in the workplace.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern supervised by Dr. Frances Verrinder MFT #11970 where I see individuals, couples and families and am currently enrolling groups in Stress/Anxiety Management and Relationship/Intimacy.
My style is engaged, relational, fun, and integrates somatic, experiential, mindfulness, cognitive and psychodynamic approaches. I have received training in Francine Shapiro's EMDR which is a comprehensive psychotherapy that accelerates the treatment of a wide range of pathologies and self-esteem issues related to disturbing events and present life conditions. This interactional, standardized approach has been empirically tested in over 20 randomized controlled studies with trauma patients, and hundreds of published case reports evaluating a considerable range of presenting complaints, including depression, anxiety, phobias, excessive grief, somatic conditions and addictions. I have also studied with Stanley Keleman, Christina Loeffel, and Peter Wright in the Formative Psychology™ method which teaches the process of voluntary management of behavior. The intent is to support individual expression, deepen somatic experience, and gain practical skills in using the formative methodology when working with oneself or others. I am currently enrolled in an intensive study group with Francine Lapides, MFT exploring Psychoneurology and the importance of brain science on therapy and treatment.
I am particularly drawn to working with couples in varying stages of distress. I enjoy teaching communication skills and attachment styles and thrive on disrupting old patterns to allow for new experiences of healing and connection. I work largely from a Formative frame, but also include Attachment Theory and Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques. All couples welcome!!
I can often be found on a bike, dancing, having brunch with friends or adventures with my partner, singing and playing bass guitar, reading books on business and entrepreneurship, organizing LadeeZ Nights, workshops and themed potlucks, or volunteering at Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic providing body and energy work to low income women with cancer.
I want to help you experience deep connection to your body, overcome habits and fears, re-awaken communication and intimacy in relationships, SLOW DOWN and truly realize your potential!
